Antarabudaya Malaysia recently officiated the closing ceremony of the 10th International Friendship and Cultural Camp Virtual Exchange 2021, a collaborative effort with Section 13 school in Shah Alam and participated by the school’s Junior AFS Intercultural Club. A total of 37 students and 6 teachers received certificates and gifts for its successful conclusion.
During the months-long classroom exchange, students connected with their peers in Turkey, Sebia, India, Indonesia, South Korea and Russia and learnt about each other’s cultures on a deeper and more personal level.
In her speech, Antarabudaya Malaysia Chairperson, Khalilah Talha said that efforts to enhance cross-cultural understanding must be stepped up. “If we are armed with better knowledge about practices and traditions of other communities, it will be easier to peel away the layers of mistrust and prejudices that have become a stumbling block in achieving true unity,” she said.
Ambassador awards were presented to two outstanding students, Joshua Roshan Echibeh and Dhiya Laiqah Mohd Nadzri, for their active participation and achievements in assignments during the virtual classroom sessions.
