AFS aims to empower young people with the passion for making a difference…and one such changemaker did just that with a catchy new song to celebrate Aidil Fitri!
Zamaera al-Edros and her family had uploaded a music video to celebrate Eid on youtube just before Ramadan ended, which featured her singing her own composition. It went viral quickly, being shared countless times on social media platforms as the season’s most popular greetings, alongside classic favourites like Selamat Hari Raya by Saloma, Suasana Hari Raya by Sharifah Aini and Satu Hari di Hari Raya by M Nasir.
Zamaera went on her AFS intercultural experience to Italy (Intensive Program) in 2011 and to Germany (Year Program) in 2013/14. Her family also hosted an AFS student from Germany (Year Program) in 2012/13. She is now a rapper/singer-songwriter of her own company Mean Malaya Entertainment. Music remains her passion and she has released an EP which was recorded in Chicago with a live orchestra.
